Who I Am
Hi there. I’m Rachel.
I’m almost totally blind, a mom of two, and I work full time in accessibility and assistive technology. That last part means I spend my days helping make technology actually usable for people with disabilities — which is weirdly ironic given how many products I’ve had to hack together myself just to live a normal life.
Most of the rest of my life is dogs, chickens, mud, projects I probably underestimated, and trying to keep up with a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy who already outweighs my better judgment.
Where I Live
We live out in rural Oklahoma on five acres with way too many animals and never enough clean towels. It’s the kind of place where you have to fix things with whatever’s in the barn, where the chickens have more personality than most humans, and where the dogs genuinely believe they run everything (they’re not entirely wrong).
What This Site Is
This space is mostly just real life. Animals. Homestead chaos. Accessibility. Rural living. Some humor. Probably too many dog photos.
It’s also a place to share what I’ve learned about doing normal things in a not-so-typical way, and how blindness doesn’t mean you can’t have chickens, dogs, mud, and a whole lot of adventure.
